Bobby Richards

Bobby Richards

Halter and Gaited training will be available through Bobby Richards, Jr. from Tennessee. Richards has 30 plus world titles and 30 plus reserve world titles in The Celebration and Futurities. He is also an international title winner in weanling, yearling and "in-hand" competitions. Bobby has conducted halter and gait training clinics all across the United States and Canada. In addition, he is a licensed judge with the National Horse Show Commission and has conducted a judging seminar in Germany for the European members of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association. His topics to be addressed each day include ground working, halter training and preparing a young horse to ride as well as gait training with an emphasis on Tennessee Walking Horses and other naturally gaited breeds.

Bobby began riding at 2 years of age. He fell off his horse and broke his arm. He’s been hooked on horses since then. He started show ring competition when he was 6 yrs. of age. All through his younger years he rode and showed halter horses under the guidance of his father Bob Richards Sr. Upon entering college, Bobby continued pursuing greater knowledge with horses. After college, Bobby started his horse training career as well as starting his family with his wife of 18 years, Stacey. Bobby has earned numerous world titles in the show ring and has also attained his AAA horse judging license. When the weather and the show circuit allow, Bobby, his wife, and 2 sons love to load up and go trail riding. If you can’t find him at the show, or at the barn, he is on horse back in the woods.

In the year 2000, he built his own training facility where he works with horses and trains “PEOPLE” (a psychology degree would have been helpful in this aspect of training). Bobby has conducted training and judging clinics as TWHBEA’s clinician all over the U.S., in various parts of CANADA and throughout Germany. His clinics cover all details involved with gaited horses: bitting, shoeing, riding for the first time, cantering and also gait recognition from a judges point of view.

Bobby has spent his life understanding horses and future plans call for him to continue his learning. He hopes that through his relationship with his horses he can help others appreciate more; one of the greatest GIFTS FROM GOD: The horse
